Market selection checklist

Selecting which markets to enter can be one of the most challenging parts of exporting.  You may already have a preference based on knowledge of your product or service, world trends in your industry or your intuition about potential new markets.  However, it makes sense to test and confirm your preference using a mix of formal and informal measures.

The market selection process requires you to:

  • collect information about potential export markets
  • make comparisons
  • make decisions.

Using and selecting eMarkets checklist

Electronic marketplaces are important tools for companies to consider when conducting international business.

Deciding whether an emarketplace is a suitable channel for your business can be a difficult process, which is why we have provided you with a checklist of issues to work through, including:

  • Relevance - what are the different types of emarkets and what are the various ways they can be used?
  • Readiness - is your business ready to use an emarket as an additional sales channel?
  • Selection - how do you go about selecting the right emarketplace?

Download our Using and Selecting e-Markets Checklist (PDF, 147KB) for tips to assist with market selection.
